It's Rodeo Time in Texas

Rodeo season has officially kicked off (in Fort Worth), and GO TEXAN is proud to play a large part in several of the Lone Star State’s livestock show and rodeo events with exhibit booth space to promote Texas agriculture and our proud GO TEXAN members. Last month, we offered an opportunity for GO TEXAN members to sell and sample their products at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Every spot was filled up within a day! We’d like to thank all the GO TEXAN members who signed up to participate in HLSR and the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.

There’s still time to sign up and participate with GO TEXAN at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo. See our Mark Your Calendar section for details.

GO TEXAN Goes NASCAR!

Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) and its GO TEXAN program have joined forces with AM Racing for the 2016 Camping World Truck Series season. As a GO TEXAN member, AM Racing and NASCAR driver Austin Wayne Self will promote the GO TEXAN program and the best of Texas.

“We’re so excited for our GO TEXAN program to partner with AM Racing to spread the word about Texas agriculture and the many wonderful products that are made right here in the Lone Star State,” Commissioner Miller said. “GO TEXAN and AM Racing both have roots that run deep in Texas, so it was a natural fit for GO TEXAN to hop on board with AM Racing to promote the best of Texas and the many businesses that call our great state home. Texans have an incredible sense of pride for our state and our heritage, and I’m excited for NASCAR and AM Racing fans all across the country to discover why they should GO TEXAN.”

AM Racing is a Texas-based company, owned by Texans and featuring a native-Texan driver. 2016 marks Self’s rookie year in the NASCAR Camping World Series. Self will be driving a Toyota Tundra with the 2016 body style that looks just like the ones made right here in San Antonio.

“I’m excited and thankful to have the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN campaign on board our No. 22 Toyota Tundra this season and know they’ll be a valuable member of the AM Racing family,” Self said. “I’m a big supporter of Texas-made products and believe strong teamwork drives success, and that’s what GO TEXAN represents. I look forward to working with them in 2016.”

Be looking for opportunities to partner with this fellow GO TEXAN member at NASCAR and other events.

Member Spotlight:
Texas Custom Spice Company

“This business started as a dream in 2003,” said Gabriel Gonzalez, general manager of Texas Custom Spice Company. “Our family has always blended our own seasonings and we felt that this was a service that we could offer to other people who desired to create their own seasoning. We are a family owned and operated small business located in Houston. We offer seasoning and spice blend duplication services, custom blending and co-packing/private labeling services.”

Texas Custom Spice Company is in the rare position of being a small company yet being able to help other small companies out. They can be a great partner for GO TEXAN members and entrepreneurs who dream of creating their own spice or seasoning product. Co-packing and private labeling removes many of the cumbersome and sometimes confusing barriers to starting up, expanding or running a small business.

“We are proud to be a family owned Texas based small business. We joined GO TEXAN because we appreciate how GO TEXAN promotes Texas-based small businesses and the resources they provide for networking with other potential customers and suppliers.”

For more information on the Texas Custom Spice Company, visit their website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
