With Christmas right around the corner, there is no denying that the holidays are upon us! One of the most time-honored traditions for the winter season centers around the Christmas tree, and Texas is home to many “choose-and-cut” Christmas tree farms.

“Seeing families who have now grown into third and fourth generations and they’re still coming back 25 years later is what makes our business a true blessing,” said Debbie Merket with Merket Christmas Tree Farms. “Families finish their Thanksgiving dinners, and then pile into vehicles to come pick out a Christmas tree. It is a tradition that is irreplaceable not only in our family, but in families all over Texas.”

With a petting zoo, hot chocolate and cider, hayrides, wreaths, and visits from Santa Claus, many Christmas tree farms have a complete family holiday experience.

To find a farm near you, visit the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association website to locate the farms across the Lone Star State. Most open up Thanksgiving Day and run through Christmas Eve.
